The Department of Physics of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) has started functioning as a full-fledged department since 1973 and introduced postgraduate programs, Master of Philosophy (M. Phil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.), in Physics from the year 2000. The Department is still offering these two programs for both full-time and part-time postgraduate students. Generally, the duration of M. Phil. Program is 2 years for full- time students and 3 years for part-time students. An M. Phil. Student is required to complete 8 theoretical courses (24-credit hours) of Physics and 24 credit hours of thesis (research work) in order to achieve his degree. Entry requirement for M. Phil. Program is M. Sc. Degree in Physics or Applied Physics with at least second class/CGPA of 2.50 in the scale of 4.00 in both B.Sc. (Hon’s/Pass) and M.Sc. with good previous academic records. Entry requirement for Ph.D. student is usually an M. Phil. Degree in Physics. A student of Ph. D. program normally takes 3-4 years to obtain a degree. The department is going to open M.Sc. degree very soon in Physics to produce postgraduate in Physics to fulfill the demand of the country. Interested potential students are advised to get admission in these programmes for the development of their bright future.
